Beauty and the Beast

Not only are Disney movies great for keeping the kids entertained, but they are also great when you feel like being a kid again. Even better, the lessons these movies teach don’t just apply to children, they also can provide life lessons for parents and adults as well. As a child, you are focused on the magic and happy endings and you don't realize all the beneficial messages that are woven throughout the storyline. In life, it appears that no matter how many times you are told something, you still must learn from your actions and life experiences. Not very often do you learn from watching an event happen to someone and live vicariously through them to understand what it felt like to be in their shoes. I believe that Beauty and the Beast is full of useful life lessons that I did not fully understand as a kid, but as I re watched it, was very surprised at how relevant the themes were. This movie is filled with life lessons that everyone should be taught. The most important lesson, in my eyes, is the fact that Belle never judges things by what they are on the outside. She is a prime example of how important it is to never judge a book by its cover. Throughout the story, Belle was never hateful towards the Beast and was always very conscious of whom he was on the inside, rather than worrying about what he looked like on the outside. Belle is a great role model for not only young girls, but teenagers and grown women as well. Belle is humble, and not afraid to be herself. She completely ignores the attention of Gaston and refuses to confide in someone so shallow and horrendous.  She also showed the importance of family. Belle gave up her freedom to save her father from the hideous Beast. Belle had no idea what she was walking into, but never even thought twice when she knew that it would keep her father safe. All of these lessons are important in everyday life, and can be useful for people of all ages. Whether you are a young girl who aspires to be a princess just like Belle, or you’re a mom who is watching your child try and live their dreams, Disney movies will always be a source of imagination and inspiration. While on the surface all Disney films just appear to be cute cartoons, they all carry underlying themes that make the story even better.
